The Easy Wallpaper Accent wall
November 29, 2016It is kind of strange I was elected President.
- No hanging Chads
- Nobody protested in the streets
- I didn’t spend any of my money or your money on the election
- Nobody paid me any money for anything.
I didn’t even have to announce my run for the position of President. I was simply asked and I accepted.
The President’s position I have accepted is for the President of the NECPDCA which means the North
East Council of the Painters Decorators of America which includes New York and all of New England.
Some people may ask what does the NECPDCA stand for and what do we represent?
Well let me tell you:
North East Council, Inc., PDCA is the only trade association that addresses the needs of painting contractors in the New England and New York. NEC is more than 250 members strong, with active chapters meeting on a regular basis. Our parent organization, PDCA, was founded in 1884 and currently has over 2000 members nationwide.
PDCA members participate at a National, Council and Chapter level. At the national level you will have access to Industry Standards and industry specific publications and the national PDCA website. PDCA promotes education through Contractor College and the PDCA Accreditation Program. PDCA also protects the interests of contractors through representation at the local, state and federal level.
Chapters meet locally to provide members with hands-on and face-to-face opportunities for networking and information sharing. New England Council offers a yearly conference, educational seminars, workshops and leadership training and produces a quarterly magazine.
Our members are both small and large contractors, residential and commercial. The common thread among our members is the desire to succeed in business and having the support network available to make that happen. Consider joining our dynamic organization and grow with us!
I joined the NECPDCA about 7 years ago after running my own painting business for 8 years prior. I knew there was something else out there that could help me as I heard other seasoned painters talking about this. I joined and became a member for a couple years and slowly volunteered my time for additional tasks and roles within the association.
I then joined the Board of Directors, then Vice President and this year was honored to become the President. I feel the best part of the position and being a member is helping other painters grow their businesses.
If you may know a painter:
- who can use some assistance
- another painter who can relate and he/she can talk to
- would like to network with other painters
- would like to share ideas and receive honest feedback
- Share, grow, commemorate, laugh and eat a nice dinner once a month
Then we have a chapter for them.
