Around new England the businesses that specialize in washing homes are few and far between and most paining companies also wash all their own homes that are scheduled to be painted approximately a week or so before the painters start to prepare the house to paint.

But the question I ask and I own a painting company is does your home actually need a paint job or does it just need a washing?  The first determining factor is if the current paint job on the house is still intact and not peeling or flaking.  If it all looks good then let us proceed to a test spot.

Steps on testing your house for washing or painting:

One way of testing is to take a section of the house approximately 10 feet by 10 feet.

• wet down any vegetation around area you are going to wash

• mix as the house wash liquid directs and spray on with pump sprayer and let dwell as directed.
• light scrub as needed with brush
• rinse house with hose water
• rinse all vegetation again to clean from house wash.

Materials needed:

hose and running water

pump sprayer

long handle scrub brush

house wash found at paint store or big box hardware store

Let the area dry and if the house looks good, presto the house is washed and no paint needed.
