If you have answered “Yes” to any of the previous questions it is probably time to have your gutters checked and or cleaned.
Often times if you see pine needles, leaves, green growing trees visible from the ground in or on you gutters it is often times for a gutter cleaning.
If after a rain storm has passed and an hour has gone by and you still see water consistently flowing from your gutters it is time for a gutter cleaning. This is caused from the build up of debris in the gutter holding back the water from flowing out of the gutter as it was installed to do.
Leaves, Pine needles, small branches, tennis balls (errant balls) nuts from trees, ect, ect.
As the leaves fall and decompose it turns to muddy compost on the bottom of the gutter often trapping and restricting the flow of water and other small pieces of debris that would usually flow freely thru the gutter and down the down spout.
One small branch can cause havoc starting a small dam holding back a few leaves and eventually stopping the flow of water.
One of the causes we find quiet often when active children are at the house is a tennis or rubber ball stuck in the opening of the downspout as it is the perfect fit to restrict any water flow.
