How to Contain Dust during a project at your home

Recently I was visiting the gym, I know I should go more often but I noticed over the course of a few days they were renovating a common area with new sheet rock and paint and there was Dust everywhere.

When I visited the last day I also noticed how long it was taking for the workers to clean up all the sheet rock dust due to them sanding.  There was dust all over the floor, some people had tracked it along the walkway as well as you could see it wafting in the air.  Can you imagine what those small particles due to your lungs?  If you have ever had a project in your own home you may have experienced that the sheet rock dust seems to find its way from one end of the house to the other even when a small patch is being sanded.

There is a solution for this and it is a WIN/WIN for the contractor and the customer.

How would you like during your next home renovation you experienced virtually NO DUST?

Well, we found the solution to be Festool extractors and sanders.  What is an extractor? It is their name for a vacuum system.  

A couple of the Festool characteristics that allow them to work so well are:

• HEPA filtration
• controlled suction and controlled speed of the sander.
• variations of sanders for each project, even large wall sanders called Planex.

If you are planning a project in your home, ask the contractor if they have Festool extractors, if they tell you they use a shop vac you might want to interview another contractor.
