Will there be a Dusty Mess all over my house?
December 8, 2015If you find peeling paint on the siding outside of a bathroom, it means that there’s a problem with bathroom humidity. It’s a great problem that should be fixed in no time. Literally, a wall with peeling paint can be an unsightly experience in a home. If you find that the paint is peeling from the interior wall, the reason for the peeling paint might be an improperly prepared surface as well as the moisture leaking through from the wall to the paint surface. The only solution to get rid of this problem is to repaint the wall with peeling paint to repair and restore the wall to make it attractive again.
Cover the Floor:
The first step is to protect the floor as well as the baseboards from paint. You need to lay down the drop cloths to protect the floor under the wall. You can also apply masking tape around the doors and windows. It is also important to scrape away as much loose paint as you can by using a paint scraper. A wire brush is also a great tool to scrape away the loose paint from the wall.
Repair Holes and Cracks:
You need to repair all holes and cracks in the wall that has a peeling paint. The best way to do this is to apply the patching compound on the holes and walls and smooth it in a thin layer. Finally, allow the patching compound to dry completely. Once you are done, sand the wall over the repaired areas in order to make it smooth. Remove all dust from the wall by wiping it off with a tack cloth.
Prime The Wall:
In order to avoid moisture problems, you should apply a good quality primer to the wall to seal it. Use a good quality paintbrush to prime around the perimeter and then use a paint roller. You also need to allow the primer to dry according to the drying time recommended on the can.
Apply Good Quality Paint:
To get the best result, use high quality latex paint only. You need to apply the latex paint to the wall in the same way as you did for the primer. Wait until the paint dries properly. Then, if you want, apply a second coat. Finally, remove all the masking tape and drop cloths.
